Posting my Lizard Tuesday post one day late. Whoops. It’s a good thing, and yet a very dangerous thing, that I work across a parking lot from a pet store. Good thing, because when I need something, it’s easy to get. Bad, because well pet stores are dangerous for me. However, in this case, I needed superworms for my bearded dragon. So, in 90 degree heat, I walked across the parking lot for them.
Given the heat, I certainly didn’t want to leave them in the car. I’d have cooked superworms by then. However, I brought them in and set them on my desk where I could keep an eye on them. They crawled through their wheat bran substrate and in general looked like ginormous worms out of Dune or maybe Tremors. They’re happily doing superworm things, and when the worms and I get home, about 1/5 of them will get fed to the dragons, who will be every thankful that I bought them.
I just don’t tell my coworkers that i have bugs on my desk.
Would you like to help my rescues?
A large part of my Musimagium world involves the animals who share my life. From cats to bunnies, bearded dragons, to my parrot, even SuperDuck and the poultry, you'll find glimmers of those who share my home in my writing. If you're a fan of Pito the bearded dragon (Hidden & Tonic Chords) or Major the Rooster (God Plucked), or you follow my untitled story on Patreon featuring Turner, the Flemish Giant Rabbit, check out these things that would help their inspirations.
