Oh the reasons we give ourselves for finding the right place, the right time, the right…everything to practice. I’m in the process of going through and rearranging a couple of rooms in my house. And now I’m faced with the dilemma. Do I practice in the new space I created or do I practice in the front bedroom with the big bay window?

It seems silly. Superficial, even. Where you practice doesn’t matter as much as the fact that you do practice. Except I’m hoping to do some acoustic work on the room for future recording and videos, and I’d like to choose where to do that. I’m thinking the smaller room would be easier to control in that way, and yet, my preference would be the larger room for its better views.

Neither factor actually has any bearing on my practice or my music. I suspect I’ll be a bit nomad-y for a while. Moving from room to room, determining which one is the best and how the music feels in each space until we get it worked out. My husband and I had actually talked about these plans and so I have an idea how where we’ll all end up. Until then, the important point? You got to practice!
