Bearded dragons require greens and vegetable matter in addition to their staple diet of bugs. My guys, Kimba and Artemis, prefer collard, turnip, and mustard greens in that order. Although it’s too cold to garden, I certainly can garden indoors and growing leafy greens is easy, especially in our large windows.

I already have green seeds left over from my garden. So I’m planning on filling some plastic shoeboxes with a good garden mix (possibly soil from my own garden), planting and seeing what happens.

Growing greens for my lizards allows me to control what I’m feeding them down to knowing exactly where their food is coming from, and it’s economical. A small box in a window sill will allow the plants to grow. I’ll post pictures of my setup and updates as I do. Tell me, do you grow food for your pets?
